JULIN CHEUNG testimonial
“I was extremely fortunate to meet Sir James and Lady Jeanne when I was nine. Attending the Galway Flute Festival through the years as a beginner and then as an advanced student had an immense impact on my technique, tone, and overall musical development. Sir James and Lady Jeanne have a tailored approach to each flutist’s individual needs and challenges, and the Galway Flute Academy is a great environment to be motivated and inspired!.”
Julin started his flute studies at age six and joined the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra flute section when he was nine. In 2016, at Sir James Galway’s invitation, Julin participated in the Galway Flute Festival where he collaborated with some of the most accomplished flute players in the world. Since then, Julin has won a number of local and international awards, notably a first prizes in the Severino Gazzelloni International Flute Competition, Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia National Collegiate Competition, Classical KING FM Young Artist, as well as Seattle Symphony and Vancouver Symphony Young Artists awards.
Julin participated in masterclasses and workshops with Emmanuel Pahud, Mimi Stillman, Carolyn Christie, Francesco Loi, Davide Formisano, Kersten McCall, and Chelsea Knox. He is currently a student of Jeffrey Khaner at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. In Seattle, he studied with Demarre McGill, Jeffrey Barker, and Zart Dombourian-Eby.
